How long Can You Keep An Item?
- Most library materials — 3 Weeks
- Items with a waiting list — 2 Weeks
- Films on VHS/DVD — 1 Week
- CD-ROM software — 1 Week
- Items borrowed from other libraries - varies by lending library
Can An Item Be Renewed?
Most items are renewable - you may renew a maximum of 2 times.
The following items are NOT renewable:
- Items with a waiting list
- Feature films on VHS/DVD
- CD-ROM software
- Seasonal items
How to Renew Items
AVOID overdue charges by renewing your materials online or by telephone. Have your Library Card ready to renew on the web or call 248-796-4208.
Fines & Charges
- .20 ¢ per day for most library materials
- .25 ¢ per day for:
- Music CDs, Books on CD, Books on Tape
- $1.00 per day for Videos, DVDs, CD-ROMs, Hooked-on-Phonics, and items borrowed from other libraries.
Payment of overdue fines must be made in cash.
Replacement cost, plus a processing fee, will be charged for lost or damaged materials.
Borrowing privileges will be suspended if the amount owing exceeds the maximum allowable or if 2 or more overdue notices have been sent for any one item.
Long overdue accounts may be sent to a collection agency and credit reported.
Receive Library Notices via E-mail!
You can have your hold,courtesy and overdue notices sent directly to your e-mail address. The message you receive will include detailed information, including author & title.
COURTESY notices are reminders sent to you 3 days before an item is due.
HOLD notices are sent when an item you have requested is ready for pick-up.
